Museum Information

The Iron County Historical and Museum Society was organized in 1962 and the Museum was opened in 1968.  It is Upper Michigan's largest local museum and is located on nearly 10 acres of land, a former mine site.  It has 26 buildings and over 100 major exhibits and includes 3 special art galleries - the Lee LeBlanc Wildlife Gallery, the Giovanelli Italianate Gallery and the Bernhardt Contemporary Gallery as well as a Cultural Center and Research Center.

The Iron County Historical Museum is Upper Michigan's largest museum and has over 5 acres with 75 major exhibits. There are twenty-three buildings including:
Cultural Center, Research Center
The Lee LeBlanc Wildlife Art Gallery
Giovanelli Italianati Art Gallery
and the
Bernhardt Contemporary Art Gallery

Iron County Historical Museum was awarded the Michigan Historical Award in 2006 by the Michigan Cultural Alliance "for outstanding creativity and commitment to building Michigan into a state that values, supports, and uses culture to make our communities better places to live, work and visit".

Caspian, Michigan just off M-189 (2 Miles off U.S. 2 in Iron River).  For a map and directions, click here.

Be sure to visit the Gift Shop when you are visiting the museum.  It is located in the Cultural Center and follows the same hours as the museum.

Memorial Day thru Labor Day: Monday - Saturday:  10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday: 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.
September: Monday - Saturday Noon to 4 p.m.
Closed Sundays:  Check Calendar for Weekends/Special Events

Seniors (65+) $7.00
AAA $7.00
Youth (5-18) $3.00
Children under age 5 Free
Family (parents and minor children) $20.00
Group* (over 10 people with leader) $5.00 each

All children must be accompanied by an adult.
